Home Movies

This collection of home movies includes amateur films and videotapes from the collections of the Center for Home Movies and other home movie aficionados. This collection includes amateur productions, home movies and home videos of family activities, travelogues, dramas and a variety of homemade films from the last century, as well as ephemeral films about home movie making.

In 2005, the Center for Home Movies was established as a non-profit corporation to administer Home Movie Day and to engage in new home movie projects and to act as a clearinghouse for information about home movies. The Center's mission is to collect, preserve, provide access to, and promote understanding of home movies and amateur motion pictures. Information about the Center for Home Movies and Home Movie Day can be found at www.centerforhomemovies.org.

Interested in having your home movies on this site? If you've already uploaded the home movie to the Internet Archive, contact skip@avgeeks.com to have it moved to this section.

In July 1956, the five-member Barstow family of Wethersfield, Connecticut, won a free trip to newly-opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, in a nationwide contest. This 30-minute amateur documentary film tells the fabulous story of their fun-filled, dream-come-true, family travel adventure, filmed on the scene at Walt Disney's "Magic Kingdom" by Robbins Barstow. Life in the 50's with the Glasco Family. One of the fun things to do back in the 8mm days was to get the family together and watch your Home Movies. One of the un-fun things to do was watch someone else's.... Note: The white cap I am wearing was because of ringworm of the scalp. This film was found in the basement of a vacating business in Rochester, New York in 2004. The decomposition of the emulsion, combined with the vivid color and movements of the carnival rides, creates a beautiful film reminiscent of the work of filmmakers Peter Delpeut and Bill Morrison.
